Melo = Knick. Finally…

Finally after months of rumors and trade talks, Carmelo Anthony got his wish. Anthony will be joining Amare Stoudemire and the New York Knicks after spending the last 7 months in the trade rumor mill spotlight. In return, the Denver Nuggets received Timofey Mozgov, Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari and a draft pick in 2014, and two additional picks. The Knicks got Melo, Chauncey Billups, Renaldo Balkman, and Shelden Williams. In addition to this, the Knicks received Corey Brewer from the Minnesota Timberwolves for Anthony Randolph and Eddy Curry. This trade official makes the T-Wolves frontcourt one of my favorites in the league (Curry, Randolph, Darko Milicic, Michael Beasley, and Kevin Love)!!! Just kidding.

Reports are saying that multiple trades could be in the works for the Nuggets. Rumor has it that Felton and Mozgov could be shipped to the Nets in a 3 way deal including the Mavericks, while apparently Gallinari (one of my actual favorite players) is being shopped around to teams including the Clippers and Cavs. I think Denver’s best option is to start PG Ty Lawson along with Gallo, Chandler, JR Smith and Nene if they want to win now. If not, sending these players out for draft picks or young players would be a good idea.

In my opinion, the Knicks gave up a lot to bring in Carmelo. It seems as though, NY could have gotten him for free in the summer and still been a playoff team this year. I do like the Melo addition in the longrun and I even like the Brewer move, but giving up 4 starters and 3 draft picks is a big time move for one to two starters! On the other hand, George Karl’s Nuggets are in a rebuilding stage, but can still be competitive this season. I do not expect them to lay down and I am very interested in seeing what happens with the trade deadline approaching.

Melo-Drama, The Decision, what’s next? NBA players need to stop the childish acts and just play ball. With all that being said, I do hope the Heat and Knicks play each other in the playoffs. I am just happy that the 7-month rumor is done.
