Zags WCC Dominance Ends Tonight

USF! USF! USF! That’s right, San Francisco has a D-1 basketball team and for the first time in awhile, they are good. In fact, they are primed to beat Gonzaga for the second time this year.  The number three-seed Dons got the monkey off their back last night by beating Pepperdine for the first time in six conference tournament tries and puts themselves into the tourney semi-finals for the first time since 2003. Rex Walters has this program on the upside and beating Gonzaga to get into the tourney finals would be a major statement for the program. The odds are not in USF’s favor, but it’s March and that means Madness. Anything could happen and why not bet on the Dons in this one? Everyone is sick of Gonzaga anyways. Ages ago they used to be the darlings of March, but once Adam Morrison started crying on the court, they became the Lindsay Lohans of NCAA basketball. Cute at first, but just stayed in the spotlight too long. Thanks Gonzaga for giving relevance back to the WCC, but it’s USF’s time now. Tune in tonight at 7:35 west coast time on ESPN2 and show some love for your home town team.
