The Gaels are F*cking Out

68 teams were named to the NCAA tournament bracket yesterday and the Gaels of St. Mary’s from the WCC was not one of them. Late season losses and an inability to stop conference power, Gonzaga, kept the Gaels out of the bracket and burst their bubble. Every tournament field will have its critics and doubts and one of the snubs has to be the Gaels this year. Meanwhile, the WCC champion Bulldogs of Gonzaga University will take on St. John’s, as an 11 seed in the Southeast region (possible upset pick).

No Bay Area teams will be representing in the tourney, but four Pac-10 teams (Arizona, Washington, UCLA, and USC) will be competing along with Gonzaga for a spot in the Final Four. I expect good runs by Arizona and UCLA, but they both have tough opening games against Memphis and Michigan St. The tournament field is set and be sure to check back here at 756sports for extensive coverage, predictions and recaps for NCAA March Madness.
