The Giants kept up their quick-start offense last night as they poured in four runs in the first inning and held on for a 6-3 victory over the Colorado Rockies. The win gave them the series advantage going into today’s game where Matt Cain will take on De La Rosa.

Pablo Sandoval’s 3-run homer in the first and Aubrey Huff’s two-run shot in the seventh led the way for Jonathan Sanchez to pick up his second win of the season. Sanchez pitched strong, going 6.1 innings, allowing only 2 hits, but 3 runs. The bullpen finished the game strong with 1.2 innings of work from Ramon Ramirez and Javier Lopez and another save from Brian Wilson.

Positives:

1. Bullpen…great work to finish the game strong and keep the powerful Rockies lineup from producing any runs.

2. Panda…he keeps on doing it with the bat. The homer is his 5th on the season and he now has 13 RBIs, while hitting .328.

3. Freddie Sanchez…Sanchez continues to get the offense going. He went to 2-5 last night with a run, and is hitting .313 on the season.

SCORE UPDATE: 1-1, bottom 2nd. RBI single from Posey in the 1st.

INJURY UPDATE: Pablo Sandoval was scratched from the lineup after straining his triceps during batting practice.
