Cleveland Browns running back, Peyton Hillis beat out Michael Vick to become the cover athlete for the 2011-2012 edition of the EA Sports franchise football game, Madden 12. After a month of voting from over 13 million people, Madden fans have spoken and their choice is Peyton Hillis.

Hillis was a 10-seed in the 32 team bracket and defeated Vick, a 3 seed, by an overwhelming amount. Hillis tallied up 66% of the vote in the final. The winning result is in thanks to a successful online campaigns via Twitter, Facebook and the Browns organization’s website.

His victory denied Mike Vick’s shot at becoming the first two-time Madden cover athlete. Vick donned the cover in 2004, a year where the Madden curse continued with Vick breaking his leg early on in the season. When asked about the curse, the 2012 star Hillis replied,

“For people to believe in this so-called curse, I can’t wait to prove people wrong…From what I believe and where I am in my spiritual life, it would be good to prove them wrong in that sense.”

The Browns running back will look to repeat his breakout season from last year where he rushed for 1,177 yards on 270 carries with 11 touchdowns. Hillis, an Arkansas alum, is only 25 years old and has the potential to be a solid running back in the NFL for years to come.

756sports would like to congratulate Peyton Hillis on winning the competition for the Madden 12 cover and wishes him the best of luck in beating the Madden curse.
